Yogyakarta has many beaches that can be visited. In the southern part Yogyakarta, directly bordering the Indian ocean. These beaches are a natural beach. There are several white sandy beaches, but there is also a beach which has black sand, Trisik. See the photos below for more information.
1. Baron Beach
Baron beach lies in Kemandang Village, Tanjungsari sub district about 23 km in the South of Wonosari city. Baron beach is the first beach that would be found in the junction of Baron, Kukup, Sepanjang, Drini, Krakal and Sundak beaches area.
2. Krakal Beach
Krakal beach the longest beach of the junction is located Ngestirejo village, Tanjungsari sub district, about 3 km away in the east of Baron-Kukup-Sepanjang-Drini beach junction, has scratching white hill with blue slopes gently to the sea. The beauty of green lime-scratching hill with blue seawater offers a perfect harmony, which is very natural and ideal for sun bathing.
3. Kukup Beach
Kukup Beach is a white sandy beach lies in Kemadang village, Tanjungsari sub district, about 1 km away in the east of Baron beach, it has a pathway trough the hill up to Baron beach and also a coral island, which is connected by a senggol bridge.
4. Ngrenehan Beach
Ngrenehan beach is located at Kanigoro village, Saptosari sub district, abput 30 km at the south of Wonosari city. This beach is gulf that guarded by limestone hill and amazing panorama with the sea waves struck white sand.
5. Ngobaran Beach
The location of the beach with high cliff is around two kilometers from Ngrenehan Beach. Ngobaran is such an exotic beach. When sea water falls, you can see spread of both green and brown seaweed.
6. Drini Beach
Drini beach which lies in Ngestirejo village, Tanjungsari sub district, about 1 km away in the east of Sepanjang Beach. The special character of this beach is the coral island with Drini trees on it.
7. Sadeng Beach
Sadeng beach lies in Songbanyu and Pucung village, Girisubo district, about 46 kilometers away from Wonosari city. The crowd of fisherman's village with their activities is another attraction in Sadeng Beach. Besides, the visitors also can enjoy seafood or even bring fresh fish as a small presents.
8. Sepanjang Beach is one of newly opened beaches. The name 'Sepanjang' which means 'long' derives from the characteristic of the beach that has the longest coastal lines of all beaches in Gunung Kidul.
9. Siung Beach
Siung Beach is located in a remote area in Gunung Kidul Regency, to the south of Tepus Sub-Regency to be exact. The distance is around 70 kilometer from the center of Yogyakarta city or it will take you around 2 hours drive.
10. Sundak Beach
Sundak Beach is located in Sidoharjo village, Tepus sub district, about 1 km in the east of Krakal beach. The green nature scenery combined with the fresh beach surrounding creates a beach village atmosphere, which is very suitable for relaxing. Sundak beach is also known for its teenagers camping ground.
11. Wediombo Beach
Fishing at the height of a coral hill to get big fish is certainly extraordinary tour. In Wediombo Beach, you can get not only such an experience but you can try to eat Panjo fish and see the Ngalangi ceremony.
12. Trisik Beach
Trisik Beach is the first beach in Kulon Progo Regency that you will see when you are passing Bantul - Purworejo road, through Palbapang and Srandakan. Located in Brosot Sub-Regency, Kulon Progo Regency, it is 37 kilometers from the city center. Trisik Beach is located so close to the main street so that it is easy to reach.
13. Congot Beach
Located in Jangkaran village, Temon Sub-Regency, Kulon Progo Regency, Congot Beach becomes the center of the activities of local people who depend their life on fishing.
14. Depok Beach
Depok Beach is Fishermen Village in Parangtritis Beach Area, precisely in the eastern part of Opak River Mouth. Here visitors can see the daily life of the fishermen while purchasing fresh fish from the local market and also enjoy the cuisine in the food stalls.
15. Parangkusumo Beach
Parangkusumo is part of Parangtritis Beach that is considered sacred. In the Javanese tradition, this place is considered to be the main entrance to the Mystical Kingdom of Indian Ocean, where Ratu Kidul ( Queen of the South ) rules. Many kinds of 'labuhan' ceremonies either from Yogyakarta palace or from the people are held in Parangkusumo.
16. Parangtritis Beach
Parangtritis beach is the most popular beach in Yogyakarta. It is located about 27 km from Yogyakarta. Parangtritis Beach is a lovely beach with many impressing phenomena, naturally and supra naturally.
